i'm not talking new babies here, so don't even go there!
if you know anything about andy and i or our families, you know that we love dogs in a big way...in the we've had dogs our whole lives and not having one is completely foreign kind of way.
when andy and i were dating, we would always talk about what kind of a dog we would get once we were married. i always pictured being married a few months and then being surprised with a sickeningly adorable golden or lab with a big pink or blue bow around its neck. seriously, is it normal to have a dog fairy tale?
but dogs are funny creatures. sometimes they find you instead. we were recently engaged when we happened upon our precious remy on the street near my parents' house. after running found pet ads all summer, she was never claimed (much to our delight by then). we couldn't have chosen (and paid up for) a pup as perfect as she is for us. she is the sweetest thing and keeps us laughing all the time.
now another little mutt has found us. and this one's determined to not give us a choice on the matter. "millie" (also called miller, millie girl, and mills) started sleeping in one of our porch chairs a few weeks ago. she faithfully returns each night, and is still curled up on my formerly cute chair cushions every morning--poor thing's filthy, so the cushions are ruined now : ). she is pretty meek and unobtrusive, but enjoys greeting us whenever we enter or exit the house. i don't know why she sticks around so much--it's not like we feed her or anything (lie).
what's funny (and sad) about this story is that we think millie's going to be a mommy soon. we had this pretty much confirmed when drew and carly came to visit last weekend. drew will officially be a vet in may, so he "examined" her a few times and said he really thought she had a few puppies in there! we don't know what to do with all this. anyone want a great dog and/or puppies?
here's our porch watchdog with her dirty towel we cover her up with on cold nights. thankfully it's been warm lately, so we don't worry about her at night so much.can you see rem watching closely from the window? she thinks millie's her best friend (don't worry sadie, you'll always be the #1 bff). that's where she sits and whimpers while millie's in sight.
really, if you know someone that wants a dog, let us know. we like her a lot, but want to give someone with a good home the opportunity to have this sweet girl.

We love our new granddog . . .but we're not sure we're ready to be great-grandparents yet. Sadie says "grrrrr" to Millie, but she promises to play nicely with her. Thanks for posting the pictures--she is adorable! (the two little buddies are pretty darn cute too.)
love y'all,
g. and geno
