This and That...

Summer days are quickly fading (if you are a teacher they are!) and we are keeping very busy here..mostly visiting with family, working on the baby's room, and having fun dinners with friends. Andy had a birthday on the 19th...we went to the downtown Farmer's Market (fortunately just a few minutes away!), ate at a yummy Mexican restaurant, and went to a concert at the Mercy Lounge. Andy was so excited about the show--"Ten out of Tenn"...ten local artists going on tour together. That night we realized that crowded concerts+no seating+really pregnant me=not happening ever again. We ended up having to leave the show early which made me so sad because Andy was so looking forward to it..and it was his birthday. But it was still a good day overall. Here are a few pictures...

This is what happens when you don't give your wife one single hint for your bday..you get 2 pairs of shorts. woohoo. It was a struggle for ideas the year...

Happy Birthday, Dad!

I'm getting REALLY ready for October pumpkin picking at the market...
Billy Corgan the cat...

A couple of weeks ago, we had two uninvited visitors in one night. I think they just wanted to stay on the porch, but we quickly sent them packing. I've never seen a web like this before. I walked out the front door and screamed when I realized our entire porch was encased in a gigantic web. There was no getting out of the house without going through this guy first...

Then I looked up and found this in the corner of the porch... I got Andy out of bed, he suited up, and played exterminator.
Last weekend I went to Memphis for two showers. Friday night we helped host a couples' shower for my dear friend Maggie and her fiancee Jamie. I don't have any pictures, but it was a really fun night celebrating with them. On Saturday, my mom's side of the family hosted a baby shower for Myles and me. We had a great time and enjoyed time with all the many cousins (my grandmother was one of 10 siblings, so there are a ton. I meet new cousins all the time it seems!). I was so thankful for their hard work to help us prepare for baby.

I've pretty much already started the new school year with workshops and conferences this week. Inservice begins Monday and I meet my sweet new second graders Friday. There is tons to do to get ready, but I'm excited. I've loved the beginning of the school year since I was a little girl...organizing my school supplies is still a favorite of mine.
I'm approaching 33 weeks now and still feeling really well. It seems like everything has been a running experiment with this whole pregnancy thing. We found that I can't do concerts anymore, but have been pleasantly surprised at all the things I still feel up to doing. We'll have to wait to see the effect 17 seven-year-olds have on energy levels!
