..and i must have heard newscasters slip on it at least three times.tuesday was mostly filled with the ordinary for me--waking up to the precious sound of baby babbles, sipping coffee, unloading the dishwasher, changing diapers. but in actuality, it was no ordinary day at all. i don't think i've ever watched an inauguration before, but i must confess i was absolutely glued to the tv with kleenex in hand for tuesday's historic event.
andy and i were talking about how cool it is that having a black president won't be such a foreign concept to myles--just normal because that will be what he'll know in his lifetime. it's so exciting for our generation (not to mention older black americans who have known true hardship and discrimination) to witness such a significant milestone, but i think it's more moving to me for our son, who will never know the difference. as i sat cozily on the couch in my robe, inside my *warm house, i fully realized that my white self would never really get the magnitude of it all. still i felt overwhelmed the beauty of such a day.
-isn't this weird?
*i use the word warm loosely since it is such a debatable topic in the family. apparently, a reasonable temperature is very relative, especially to a certain brother-in-law.

Okay, I admit it, I stalk your blog and FINALLY, an update! LOVED your inauguration comments--so true--and I am so thankful that the world is changing for Myles and Grayben. Loved all the Christmas photos too--thanks for sharing. Let's try for a better birthday next year for Kel! Maybe a pool party with a pinata? . . .
