Cooking and Trains

I really like cooking, but I've realized that I like reading about cooking even more. Seriously I could thumb through recipes in cookbooks/Southern Living/Martha Stewart/Real Simple all day long..and think how lovely it would be to (and convince myself that I actually will) bake homemade cinnamon rolls on Saturday morning. Do I? Not exactly--Andy's the breakfast cook around here. But what I've discovered beyond magazines and books is that cooking blogs are that much more enticing for me. I'm a sucker for photos of what I cook. Step-by-step photos are an added attraction. There's just something about it I can't get enough of. And we don't have Food Network (that's a good thing), so...

Enter Pioneer Woman. Do you read it? I know tons of people do. I only pay attention to the cooking section which I highly recommend. Those photos will have you drooling, so don't go over there hungry!

Also, did you know her book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks is now out? Today, Myles and I went to Barnes and Noble to peruse (me) and play with train set/climb on bookshelves (him), and I grabbed it to get a sneak peek. I only got to see a few pages because my child was nearly about to kill himself or get us kicked out, but it looked really cool and way different from your ordinary cookbook. Most of the recipes I saw are available on the blog, so that kind of kept me from purchasing. But I may come back to it, who knows.

That's all. Oh and here's a tiny pic (from the phone) of the Mooser playing at the bookstore. He really was sweet there, he's just a curious little boy.

Myles looks so grown up at the library. Kel, we have that in common---loving to read recipes, although you have much more of a chance of actually cooking something than I do. You are the homey woman that I truly wish I were. I wish I could say, "Hey, she got that from me!!" But we know I'd be lying. I do credit your two grandmothers with that gift to you. Bless them both.
Ya'll have a great Halloween and enjoy Myles. By next year he may be picking out his own costume. This almost seems like his first Halloween since he was only six week old last year...hardly old enough to get in the spirit, much less a 'scary' costume like he has this year. I love you all and am with you in spirit.

Dangerous! Like I need more blogs to follow! ;) We had so much fun yesterday!

p.s. I only do cinnamon rolls for breakfast on late breakfast kind of days, like Christmas.
